Recommended Browser Settings

The URL of the PennERA application https://www.pennera.upenn.edu/ should be added as a trusted site.
Pop-up windows - pop-ups should be allowed for the PennERA URL. Certain screens in PennERA will attempt to "pop-up" additional windows. These pop-up windows may be blocked by your browser’s pop-up blocker. For instructions on how to enable these windows to appear see: http://www.upenn.edu/computing/help/doc/email/popup.html.

The browser cache should be set to “check for a new page on every visit”.
If using Internet Explorer, the browser should not be set to "show friendly HTTP errors".

Following are the steps to check settings and update as needed:

  1. Go to Tools > Internet Options...
  2. Choose the Advanced tab…
  3. Make sure that the checkbox next to "Show Friendly HTTP error messages" is empty.

In order to view PDF files in Proposal Development (completed proposals, uploaded documents), you will need Adobe Reader on your computer. You can download Adobe Reader from Penn's Supported Computing Products page at https://www.isc.upenn.edu/how-to/adobe-reader.

Note – Although they may work for many functions with the applications, handheld devices, such as tablet computers and smart-phones, are not supported for use with PennERA.
